Whether you prefer formal or candid photos, or a little of both, award-winning photographer and owner, Kyle Hughes will record all of your special moments.
In 2002, Kyle completed an intensive program at the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turner Falls, Massachusetts, one of the most prestigious photography schools in the country. Upon completion of his certificate, he returned home to Salisbury to work with the high-volume portrait company, Lifetouch for two years before spending a third with the company in Charleston, South Carolina.
Later, Kyle returned to the Ocean City area as an apprentice to a local master photographer to gain further knowledge of the art of photography before Next Wave Studios was born in a backyard studio in 2004.
Though he enjoys studio work, Kyle’s passion lies in outdoor photography, motivating him to journey anywhere in the world to photograph your family or special event. He has previously traveled to the west coast to shoot in California and Colorado and outside of the United States to Mexico, The Bahamas, Jamaica, and as far as South Africa.
In addition to weddings and family portraits, Next Wave Studios’ client base expands to local businesses. Kyle has worked with Atlantic General Hospital and Sysco as well as numerous hotels and restaurants all over the eastern shore. He has acquired a reputation for aerial city landscapes, architectural commercial photos, and pristine food images. He is also the photographer for Inside Ocean City and Inside Salisbury, a tourist attraction guidebook featured in the majority of hotel rooms in the area.
Kyle spends a lot of his free time giving back to the community, judging local photography contests and donating time and services to local charitable organizations including Ocean City Strong, Zaching Against Cancer and Believe in Tomorrow. He also is involved with local sports teams as the official photographer for Ocean City’s Northside Park and Recreation Center. He is a member of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce and has been a part of the Professional Photographers Association and the Delaware Photographers Association.
After 10 years of shooting out of his house and on location, Kyle took Next Wave Studios to the next level by opening his current studio in the Teal Marsh Shopping Center in West Ocean City. The Studio Gallery is made of six rooms, strategically highlighting his work. It contains a comfortable lounge equipped with a fireplace, a digital viewing room to see the moments from your session captured on a 70 inch high definition television, a kitchen to offer clients refreshments, and two private shooting rooms to utilize both natural and controlled light with a variety of props to make your photos unique for you and your loved ones.
In a world full of iPhones, Kyle and his clients believe that the perfect print is still worth a thousand words.
